The featured #NECFB Game of the Week on ESPN3 will determine the recipient of the league’s automatic FCS playoffs bid.
NEC Preseason favorite Duquesne (4-0) will host Central Connecticut (4-0), which has won six games in a row following an 0-3 start, for a 12:00 pm ET kickoff on November 11 at Rooney Field.
Duquesne, which saw its seven-game win streak snapped by a 27-24 loss at Liberty in Week 10, averages a league-high 33.1 points per game. CCSU, which ranks third amongst FCS team leaders in turnover margin (+14), is the only other NEC team averaging more than 30.0 points per contest (31.3).
The Dukes have won at least a share of the conference crown on four occasions dating back to 2011. Jerry Schmitt’s team celebrated shared titles in 2011, 2013 and 2016. In 2015, Duquesne won the undisputed championship and secured the automatic NCAA FCS playoffs berth.
CCSU, a four-time NEC champion, is enjoying its greatest season since earning a share of the league title in 2010. The Blue Devils, who are looking to win seven in a row for the first time at the FCS level, own a six-game win streak for the first time since 2009 when they captured the NEC crown and represented the league in the Gridiron Classic. Central has scored at least 26 points in each of its past six victories.
