Bryant, which controls its own destiny in the race for the Northeast Conference’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs, will host the ‘#NECFB on ESPN3’ Wildcard Game on November 14.
The Bulldogs’ matchup against two-time defending champion Sacred Heart will reach a national audience ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network.
After reviewing the standings and first-place possibilities, the NEC selected the Sacred Heart at Bryant game to serve as its featured matchup for Week 11.
This year’s #NECFB on ESPN3 schedule, which represents the largest live coverage package in the 20-year history of NEC football, allowed for “flex scheduling” on November 14 so the conference could deliver the most-meaningful matchup in terms of the race for the first place at the time.
The #NECFB on ESPN3 package will come to a close in Week 12 when Duquesne (4-1) hosts Keystone State rival Saint Francis (3-1) in what promises to be another meaningful matchup.
Meanwhile, Bryant (3-1) sits one-half game off Duquesne’s league-leading pace and hopes to pull even with the Dukes by defeating Sacred Heart in the upcoming ESPN3 showdown.
The Sacred Heart at Bryant game will feature two of the fiercest receivers in Division I FCS. Sacred Heart’s Tyler Dube and Bryant’s Chad Ward have continually displayed big play0making ability this fall.
Dube leads the NEC in receiving yards (989) and receiving touchdowns (8). Meanwhile, Ward has 720 receiving yards and five scores, but his 18.5 ypc average is tied for the league lead.
