Changes to All-NEC Football Teams

Overtime! has learned of a change in the composition of the All-Northeast Conference Football Teams.

Approval has been secured for the coaches’ proposal to increase the number of All-NEC honorees.

As a result, All-NEC football teams will feature 27 members, up from 25 in previous years.

The league will add one position onto the All-NEC Offense and one to the All-NEC Defense.

On offense, the NEC will honor a third wide receiver while also expanding the tight end position to include H-Backs.

Defensively, a fourth linebacker spot has been added.

The composition of the All-NEC Football Teams for the 2014 season is as follows…

Offense: QB (1), RB (2), WR (3), TE/HB (1), OL (5)

Defense: DL (4), LB (4), DB (4)

Specialists: Returner (1), Placekicker (1), Punter (1)

The 2014 FCS season will kick off on August 23 when Big Sky member Eastern Washington clashes with Southland member Sam Houston State in a special presentation of college football on ESPN.

The first #NECFB team to take the field will be Robert Morris. The Colonials host OVC foe Eastern Kentucky under the lights on Thursday, August 28.
