Today is a Good Day… To Be a Bulldog
Friday is always a good day to be a Bulldog, but this Friday is an even better one.
Following a phenomenally successful spring season in Smithfield, two Bryant teams are staring at highly-anticipated NCAA Tournament match-ups this weekend.
First, Bryant’s softball team, led by senior shortstop Aubrey Mable and sophomore hurler Elle Madsen, will open play in the NCAA Softball Norman Regional against host Oklahoma. The Bulldogs will face the Sooners for their first contest in the double-elimination, four-team bracket on Friday, May 16 at 8:30 pm EST.
Win or lose on Friday, Bryant will be back in action in Norman on Saturday.
The Bryant Faithful’s attention will also be focused upon Hempstead, NY on Saturday when the Bulldogs play the biggest game in the history of their men’s lacrosse program. The Bulldogs take on No. 7 Maryland in Elite 8 action at 12:00 pm on ESPN2.
This past Sunday, Bryant stunned the #NCAALAX World by knocking off No. 2 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. By virtue of the 10-9 victory over the Orange, the Bulldogs are now one win from becoming the first-ever NEC team to reach the NCAA Final Four.
NEC Defensive Player of the Year Gunnar Waldt has proven to be one of the nation’s top goalkeepers during his first two seasons of collegiate competition, and he sat down with the NEC’s Ralph Ventre for a one-on-one conversation. In a special #NCAALAX edition of the NEC’s GEICO Google Hangout series, Waldt talks about his team’s past successes and future aspirations. He also recounts the feeling he had after denying Syracuse’s Dylan Donahue with 00:02 remaining to preserve the 10-9 win.
