The 2014 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships had it all.
For the first time in its history, Sacred Heart raised the women’s team champion trophy.
LIU Brooklyn’s Brendon Rodney broke a 10-year old meet record in the men’s 200m dash.
Along with Rodney, LIU teammate Alistar McLean scored in all three sprints.
SHU senior Brianna Catsrogivanni completed an unthinkable distance triple, winning gold in the women’s 3K, 5K and mile runs.
A rookie – LIU’s Adam Walker-Khan – won both horizontal jumps on the men’s side.
Sacred Heart’s Sean Ferguson earned top-3 finishes in the men’s mile, 3K, and 5K for a total of 24 points.
But perhaps the most-impressive performance at the 2014 NEC Indoor title meet came from Sacred Heart assistant coach Steve Santoli.
After coaching Kolbi Smith to victory in both the women’s weight throw and shot put events, Santoli decided to show what he can do.
Watch as Santoli flawlessly executes his signature move in front of a packed house in Landover, MD…
