If you thought Moses parting the Red Sea was impressive, then you need to see what Sacred Heart receiver Moses Webb did in a Week 10 win over Monmouth.
Webb entered Saturday’s matchup with three touchdowns to his credit. The Sacred Heart receiver would notch his fourth score of the season against Monmouth, but it was surely nothing like any of the previous three.
Giving maximum effort from snap to whistle, Webb found paydirt in a rather non-conventional way late in the first half against Monmouth.
With Sacred Heart looking to add to its 17-7 advantage, and operating in its two-minute offense, Webb made a 23-yard catch to move the ball into Monmouth territory and that is where the craziness began.
Monmouth’s Pat Gray forced Webb to cough up the football and fellow Hawk Ify Asoluka scooped it up and began running the other way.
Webb, now a defender in pursuit, caught Asoluka from behind, stripped him and recovered the football with nothing but open field ahead.
Since the moment that Webb gave Sacred Heart a 24-7 lead over Monmouth with 00:56 remaining in the first half of the Saturday matinee, the receiver has been receiving loads of national attention for his part in one of the strangest plays in #NECFB history.
The name “Moses Webb” has made its way around the Twitter-verse, appearing in tweets from ESPN’s College Gameday, Bleacher Report and more.
And none of it ever would have happened though had the SHU receiver not hustled in an attempt to atone for a mistake.
Proving that playing on trumps pouting; Moses Webb never gave up on a play that didn’t initially go his way and he is basking in the national limelight because of it.
