Following your favorite NEC athlete or sportswriter on Twitter is an enjoyable experience, but can also become an overwhelming one.
With so many people to follow and so much information to digest, it isn’t always easy to manage. Hence, the Overtime! Blog’s Twitter Take Five, a new weekly feature that selects five of the most intriguing/significant Tweets from across the NEC and presents them to our fans right here on the Official Blog of the Northeast Conference.
Tweet No. 5 – Wagner Men’s Basketball
— Wagner Men’s Bball (@WagnerHoops) September 13, 2013
The tweet itself isn’t exactly inspiring, but it does deliver some awesome news. Bashir Mason’s Seahawks are one of eight teams who will contest the inaugural Gulf Coast Showcase at the Germain Arena in Estero, FL. The eight-team tournament is designed to showcase some of the top mid-major programs from across the country. Wagner will open the tournament, which runs from November 25-27, against Atlantic Sun member Stetson.
Tweet No. 4 – Ashley Afonso, CCSUBlueDevils.com Reporter
Fall please come faster… This is not football weather
— Ashley Afonso (@AshleyAfonso) September 11, 2013
Anyone who was in the northeast region earlier this week should be able to relate to Ashley’s tweet. With temperatures jumping into the 90s and the air saturated with humidity, it certainly didn’t feel like Week 3 of the college football season. The good news is forecasts are calling for a cool, clear night (Temps in the 50s) this Saturday when Central Connecticut opens its home football schedule against Holy Cross at Arute Field. If you can’t make it to the game with Ashley, then be sure to watch on NEC Front Row.
Tweet No. 3 – Julia Northcutt, Sophomore OF, Fairleigh Dickinson softball
— Julia northcutt (@juliajoyyy) September 7, 2013
When it comes to #NECpride, this sophomore outfielder must have gotten the memo. Getting her teammates to come out and support their fellow Knights on the pitch is definitely a good way to strengthen the campus community up in Hackensack. Not to mention, a nationally-ranked program such as FDU men’s soccer certainly deserves the support. After a run to the NCAA College Cup Sweet 16 last year, FDU is 4-0-0 and ranked No. 22 in NCAA Division I.
Tweet No. 2 – Robert Morris Athletics
— FANS starting with tonight’s Women’s Volleyball match (at 7pm) all RMU HOME GAMES will be streamed on the NEC FRONT ROW! —
— RMU Athletics (@RMUAthletics) September 10, 2013
The news NEC Front Row viewers have been waiting for has finally arrived. With the addition of Robert Morris, NEC Front Row, the Northeast Conference’s online digital network, now carries home sporting events from each of the league’s 10 member institutions. The first-ever Robert Morris home football game will air live this Saturday, September 14 at 12:00 pm EST.
Tweet No. 1 – Tim Goodwin, Junior TE, Sacred Heart football
The best part about @SHUBigRed is athletes supporting other athletes in all sports. We’re all pulling for each other to be successful
— Tim Goodwin (@TGoodwin21) September 11, 2013
This Sacred Heart tight end certainly has the right idea. Peers supporting peers only makes the NEC family stronger. Oh, and, on top of producing the top-ranked NEC Tweet of the Week, Goodwin plays for a 2-0 team right now. #ItsGoodToBeGoodwin
