From Young Energetic Coach to Athletic Director to Today’s #TBT

The clip below was originally published in the 1989 Wagner College Football Media Guide.  Then, a young Walt Hameline gave an even younger Bill Smith his first coaching opportunity as a graduate assistant on the Seahawks’ staff.  Nearly one-quarter of a century later, Mr. Smith is the Boss at Bryant University.  Following a stint as an administrator at Iowa State, Smith came back east to Smithfield to take Bryant’s AD job.  It was under the watch of Smith and President Ronald Machtley during which Bryant moved up from the NCAA Division II ranks and into the Division I Northeast Conference.
