After serving intercollegiate athletics for nearly a half-Century, Sacred Heart Athletics Director Don Cook is moving on to the next phase of his life. His accomplishments are plentiful and their effects will be felt for a long time around SHU and the Northeast Conference.
Cook was inducted into the NEC Hall of Fame this past January and he was honored at the NEC Spring Meeting for his remarkable career. NEC Commissioner Noreen Morris had the following to say to Cook during the NEC Commissioner’s Cup Dinner:
I can honestly say that you are one of the most impressive people I’ve had the pleasure to know, both professionally and personally. In all the challenges you’ve faced in the last three years (and you’ve faced many!), I’ve never heard you complain or play the “woe is me” card. Instead, you’ve always focused on others and how you can help them succeed..….truly inspirational! Your always positive outlook on life and your ever-present sense of humor will certainly be missed in the NEC. I cannot thank you enough for your mentorship and leadership, but more importantly, for your friendship! Enjoy your retirement!!
