Whether it was Bryant’s former quarterback wishing his alma mater the best in its NEC opener or fans “firing up” for Central Connecticut’s home opener against No. 16 Lehigh, Twitter was abuzz this morning with NEC football talk.

Former NEC Stars Shining in Sunshine State
Last Saturday, Julian Stanford saw his dream come true.  The former all-NEC linebacker for Wagner made the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 53-man NFL roster.

While Stanford spent much of the summer impressing Jacksonville brass in northern Florida, former Monmouth Hawk Chris Hogan was slowly becoming a star in south Florida thanks to the HBO show “Hard Knocks.”

Hogan was prominently featured on the series, which chronicled the team throughout training camp and preseason, but was ultimately one of the last cut for the Miami Dolphins.

As it turned out, however, the Dolphins didn’t completely turn Hogan loose as they signed him to their practice squad.
