Bryant
Men – Tim O’Shea and Co. are out in San Diego for the Basketball Travelers Classic.  The Bulldogs open against San Diego State on Nov.11.  Match-ups with UC Davis and Southern Utah also loom for the Bulldogs who welcomed Happy Dobbs to the coaching staff. Read more.

Women – Bryant opens their fourth season of playing a full Division I schedule at Colgate on Nov. 11.  Mary Burke’s Bulldogs have won at least 10 games during each of the first three years of their reclassification into Division I. Read more.

Central Connecticut
Men
– Howie Dickenman starts his 16th season as head coach of his alma mater when the Blue Devils face Ivy League member Yale in the Connecticut 6 Classic at Mohegan Sun Arena on Nov. 11.  Three days later, Central will visit MAAC member Niagara.  Read more.

Women – The Blue Devils are treating women’s basketball fans to a freebie.  There will be no admission to watch Beryl Piper’s Blue Devils tip off the 2011-12 campaign against Maine on Nov. 11 in Detrick Gymnasium.  Read more.

Men
– FDU visits Providence for its opener on Nov. 12 in what will be one of two games Greg Vetrone’s team will have against Big East members this season.  Read more.

Women – The Knights tip off the season in Chestnut Hill on Nov. 11.  Following their bout with ACC member Boston College, Peter Cinella’s Knights return home to the Rothman where they’ll host Yale. Read more.

Long Island
Men – The NEC’s preseason favorite begins its quest for a second straight NCAA tournament bid on Nov. 11 when Jim Ferry takes his Blackbirds to Hofstra.  LIU, which averaged 82.7 points per game last year, then heads to the Hall of Fame Tip-off Classic.  Read more.

Women – Gail Striegler’s Blackbirds, who earned two first-place votes in the league’s preseason coaches’ poll, are part of the Preseason WNIT field.  Long Island will open the tournament, and the 2011-12 season, at Drexel on Nov. 11.  Read more.

 

Monmouth
Men – The King Rice Era of Monmouth hoops begins at the Pavilion.  The Hawks face Big East member Villanova on Nov. 11 in the head coach’s first game at the helm.  Read more.

Women – The Hawks and first-year head coach Jenny Palmateer are the last NEC team to lift the lid off the 2011-12 campaign.  Monmouth hosts former NEC member UMBC in a Sunday matinee at the MAC on Nov. 13. Read more.

 

Mount St. Mary’s
Men
–  The Mountaineers travel to Marquette where they will tip off the season before a national audience.  The Mount-Marquette game on Nov. 11 can be seen live on regional networks MASN and SNY as well as on the worldwide web via ESPN3.  Read more.

Women – The Mount’s first four will be on the road, starting with a bout at America East member Binghamton on Nov. 11.  Bryan Whitten’s fifth season at the helm will continue with contests at Maryland-Eastern Shore, American, and Towson.  Read more.

Men
— The Bobcats, who head coach Tom Moore described as “athletic, energetic, and young,” take on Fairfield as part of the Connecticut 6 card on Nov. 11.  The fifth-year head coach was in attendance at a media luncheon to preview the event. Read more.

Women – It’s an Opening Day late matinee for Tricia Fabbri’s Bobcats.  Quinnipiac welcomes James Madison to Hamden for a 4:00 pm tip-off on Nov. 11 Read more.

Robert Morris
Men –  Andy Toole’s second season as Colonials’ head man opens in Moon.  Robert Morris, which was tabbed second in the preseason coaches’ poll after a third straight trip to the NEC Championship Game, welcomes MAAC member Rider to the Sewall Center on Nov. 11.  Read more.

Women – Robert Morris and reigning NEC Rookie of the Year Artemis Spanou play their first three contests within the friendly confines of the Sewall Center.  The Colonials tip it off against MEAC member Coppin State on Nov. 12. Read more.

 

Sacred Heart
Men – Dave Bike and the Pioneers are part of the Opening Day triple-header at the Connecticut 6 Classic on Nov. 11.  Sacred Heart will tip off the day’s three-game slate against Hartford at Mohegan Sun Arena. Read more.

Women – Sacred Heart, one of five teams to receive first-place votes in the preseason predicted order-of-finish, is in New York’s Capital Region where it will face Siena on Opening Night.  Follow their Nov.11 matchup with the Saints, Ed Swanson’s Pioneers return home to the Pitt center for a Nov. 13 contest against Columbia.  Read more.

St. Francis (NY)
Men – Saturday at Seton Hall are when and where Glenn Braica’s Terriers will tip off the 2011-12 campaign.  St. Francis (NY) will face the Big East member at the Prudential Center in downtown Newark.  Read more.

Men – Nothing like challenging your team right from the start.  Such is the case with head coach Don Friday and his Red Flash who open the season at 2011 NCAA Final Four participant Virginia Commonwealth on Nov. 11.  Read more.

Women – The NEC preseason favorite Red Flash, who are minus two starters, will tip off the season at home against Duquesne.  The back-to-back defending champions lost PG Brittany Lilley and F Shene Fleming to ACL tears, but will welcome VCU transfer Rhonda Watts to the lineup when they tip off on Nov. 11.  Read more.

Men
– Head coach Dan Hurley has settled on his team captains for the 2011-12 season and made the announcement three days prior to the Seahawks’ opener at Princeton.  Wagner and the Tigers will clash on Nov. 12.  Read more.

Women – It’s becoming somewhat of an Opening Day tradition for Gela Mikalauskas and the Seahawks.  Wagner will tip off the season on Nov. 11 against Army for the fourth straight year with the three prior meetings having gone into overtime. Read more.
