It’s not your average Tuesday at Northeast Conference headquarters.
Today, the league office welcomed athletic directors from the NEC’s 12 member institutions for their annual fall meeting.
The 12 men and women will sit down with NEC Commissioner Noreen Morris to review and discuss a number of football and basketball-related issues. The group will also receive updates on the NEC’s New Media Initiative as well as proposed NCAA legislation.
Each academic year, the NEC’s athletic directors come together on three different occasions to discuss issues pertinent to the Northeast Conference and college athletics in general. It is at these meetings where conference policy is written and league-wide initiatives come to life.
The fall meeting provides an opportunity to update the group on the state of the conference as well as address any unresolved issues that have arisen since the 12 men and women last met in May.
The end-of-year May meetings are more legislation-driven. It is at those end-of-the-year meetings where coaches’ recommendations are reviewed and conference policy is made, or amended, for the upcoming academic year.
The group also convenes during January.
